At Southview High School we offer a variety of opportunities for students with special needs. Our spectrum of services is designed to meet the needs of individual students. We pride ourselves in working together with parents and other teachers and staff members to provide the best possible education for each student. We care, and we hope it shows!

Our mild to moderate teachers offer smaller essentials classes with a modified curriculum where appropriate. We also offer a number of co-taught regular classes for those who need accommodations but study the college preparatory curriculum. In addition, students may schedule small group instruction (formerly tutoring) for extra assistance in academics and/or behavior.

Our moderate to severe teachers instruct a variety of required classes and electives for students. Our Option IV work program includes many students in learning skills needed for the world of work. We also have work-study available for our special needs students at all levels. In addition, these teachers provide support for students in regular classes where appropriate.

We base our course offerings on student need, and review students' schedules in order to ensure that each student is appropriately placed and has his or her individual learning needs met. Please talk to your counselor or one of the special education teachers if you need further information.
