8651 HONORS VISUAL BASIC & C++ (at NV)
Year - Credit 2 - Grade: 11-12 - Est. Fee $20 - 2 periods per day
Prerequisite: Programming 1 and enrolled in or completed Algebra II
Object oriented programming will be emphasized through Visual Basic 1st semester and C++ second semester. Visual Basic is the preeminent programming language for Windows based applications. You will learn the visual component (command buttons, text boxes, picture boxes, and more) to design screen layouts. Then you will learn the BASIC language (branching, loops, arrays, files, and more) to manipulate these screen objects to create useful applications. You will also learn advanced skills such as accessing information in a database and creating reports. C++ focuses on the design stage of computer program development and the coding of programs. Topics covered include structure techniques, data types, input/output, assignment statements, selection structure, repetition structure, functions, hierarchy charts, arrays, pointers, and data structures.

8656 AP JAVA (at NV)
Year - Credit 2 - Grade: 12 - Est. Fee $20 - 2 periods per day
Prerequisite: Honors Visual Basic and C++
Java programming focuses on the AP curriculum through the use of data structures. Topics include input/output, selection, repetition, methods, vectors, and linked lists. Applets and graphics will also be introduced.
