8130 BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY I (at NV)
Year Credit 2     Grade 11     Est. Fee $35     2 periods per day
Prerequisite: Software Applications
It is expected that all Tech Prep students will
successfully complete Algebra II before graduating.
This Tech Prep course is for the career- or college-bound student who is interested in pursuing a career in business. Students will develop an understanding of business practices that are needed by everyone to excel in a business field. Areas of emphasis are: accounting, finance, management, and advanced software applications. Business Technology students will acquire critical-thinking, decision-making, and business ethics skills. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency in the Microsoft Office applications by taking the Core-level Microsoft Office User Specialist Exam (MOUS). Students who pass this exam will receive their MOUS Certification. Business Technology students will participate in a job shadowing experience that allows the student to apply what they learn in the classroom and how it relates to the business world. As members of Business Professionals of America, students will have the chance to participate in regional, state, and national competition.
 

8135 BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY II (at NV)
Year Credit 2     Grade 12     Est. Fee $35    2 periods per day
Prerequisite: Business Technology I
This senior level program is for students who wish to continue
gaining valuable business skills. Instructional emphasis will include post-advanced software applications (Microsoft Office XP), accounting, desktop publishing (Microsoft Publisher), and business principles. Students will demonstrate their proficiency in software applications by taking the Core-level Microsoft Office User Specialist Exam (MOUS). Students who pass this exam will receive their MOUS Certification. During second semester, students will be released the last two periods of the day for a part-time business internship experience in an area business. Students will become a member of Business Professionals of America and may compete at regional, state, and national competition.
